Trying to find time to get caught up... Megan and I took off on Friday afternoon (8/17) to go get our respective hairs cut. Or hair cuts. Whatever. We bundled Stevie up for a ROAD TRIP! Stevie was very excited, but well behaved -- probably much more so than we were, I think.
We introduced Stevie to our hairdresser, Patricia, and another stylist (Leslie) who was there. Naturally, she was a hit (what did you expect???). We took her outside though because the salon owner is a poop and we didn't want to get Patricia in trouble for having animals in the shop. Animals, indeed. Stevie doesn't have any clue whatsoever that she's not a human.
In any case, Megan and I took turns walking Stevie outside -- lots of new things to smell, grass to tinkle on, etc. What fun! It started pouring down rain just as we were leaving. Stevie was not too impressed with the noise it made on the car.
On the way home, we stopped at a random veterinary clinic (it was on the right side of the road) to get Stevie's nails trimmed. Megan and I try to do it, but it takes both of us, and I think because Stevie is blind, it scares her more than most dogs, making it really difficult, even with both of us working at it. Well, they all LOVED Stevie, of course (do you see a pattern here?), and did a really great job on her nails. And we were SO proud of her... she was a very good girl.
She is getting bolder about jumping up onto and off of things in the apartment, and she's still as rambunctious as ever. We did manage to play scrabble again, but I tell ya, we need a new set of rules when one of the players is a blind puppy who makes it all up as she goes along. Hmmm.
Next week [August 28] is Stevie's first birthday. Megan wants to have a party on Labor Day weekend, so we are going to do something special for Stevie. I don't know what, because dog knows she already has enough t-shirts, coats, jackets, toys, food, treats and dog knows what all else... Maybe we'll get her some "frosty paws" dog ice cream. Or just a lick or two of my fudge bomb pop... We'll see.
It's hard to believe she's a year old already. Megan will have had her at the apartment for a year in late October or November, I forget which. Guess I'll have to read the dates back at the beginning of the blog. [In my next life, I'm going to put in for more Random Access Memory...]
While we both forgot our cameras for this Road Trip, I can assure you that we WILL have birthday photos at the end of the month.
Until then, in the words of my hero Cesar Millan, "Stay Calm and Assertive!"
Hugs and cheers!
